Ghaliya Wahby

I explore the connections between engineering, technology, business and social impact through research, hands-on innovation and leadership.

About Me

I am a student at the American School of Dubai, with interests spanning industrial engineering, economics, computer science and applied research. I enjoy building practical solutions to challenges in operational efficiency, environmental monitoring and accessible education. Through internships in manufacturing and business, independent projects, school leadership, international debate and community service, I have learned to approach problems with curiosity, collaboration and purpose. Dance and music have also been an important part of my life, shaping my creativity, discipline and confidence. I hope to combine these experiences to develop thoughtful solutions that make a meaningful difference.

AlziMate

I founded and developed an accessible digital support platform for people living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. The project focuses on familiar media, personal relationships, memory cues and daily routines, with multilingual and easy-to-navigate interfaces. Its design prioritizes dignity, independence and the practical needs of families. The platform is designed around personal memory profiles that can include photographs, relationships, life events, voice messages, music, favourite activities and family stories. Separate experiences for individuals, relatives, caregivers and care organisations support different needs. Large controls, simplified navigation and role-based access aim to make everyday interaction more approachable.

Calculyt

I created a free mathematics learning platform for students in Grades 2–10. The website brings together structured lessons, practice exercises, worksheets and accessible study materials to help students build confidence in mathematics and strengthen independent learning. Its learning resources cover number operations, algebra, geometry and problem-solving through video lessons, notes, worksheets and guided activities. The project also explores login-based progress support and downloadable materials, making structured practice available beyond the classroom.

Movement for the Mind

In this interdisciplinary research paper, I investigate the psychological, emotional and social benefits of dance and movement-based therapeutic practices. The work draws on existing literature and my long-term experience in dance to explore links between physical expression, well-being, communication and confidence. The paper connects research on creative arts and well-being with activity design and considers how movement may encourage emotional expression, social connection and self-confidence. Ghaliya draws on her background in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and musical theatre to frame its interdisciplinary perspective.

Smart Water Quality Monitoring
IoT research · 2026

Smart Water Quality Monitoring

I designed and developed an ESP32-based Internet of Things system to assess water conditions using total dissolved solids (TDS), turbidity and temperature sensors. Measurements are transmitted to a Blynk dashboard for remote observation and classification. The research examines how accessible sensor technology can support more timely, informed water-quality monitoring. The prototype combines a TDS sensor, turbidity sensor and DS18B20 temperature sensor with an ESP32 microcontroller. Wi-Fi transmission allows readings to appear on a Blynk dashboard, while defined sensor thresholds provide indicative water-condition classifications. The system demonstrates a low-cost approach to continuous observation rather than replacing laboratory-grade water testing.

Streamline Metrics
Industrial engineering · 2026

Streamline Metrics

I designed an industrial engineering prototype to improve production-line visibility and operational efficiency. The solar-powered conveyor integrates Raspberry Pi computer vision to count products, inspect items and collect processing metrics. Its AI-assisted proximity safety stop adds a practical layer of worker protection. The project connects automation, sustainable energy and data-driven process optimization. The solar-powered conveyor prototype tracks item counts, processing time and performance indicators. Raspberry Pi vision examines predefined product attributes including colour, shape and size. A person-detection safety mechanism is intended to stop the conveyor when someone approaches the operating area, bringing together quality inspection, operational metrics and workplace safety.
